I know I say “what a week” every week, but honestly, what a week. I try to be a really positive person, but recently I have just felt so emotionally depleted. Anyone else tired of feeling sad and scared and frustrated so much? Don’t worry, I know what that answer is… at least it helps to know that I’m not alone in feeling that way.
I think the hardest thing right now is figuring out how to speak up for what I believe is right while also continuing to be a respectful listener and communicator. Mean DMs are honestly just a part of the gig, but after a few in a row this week, it got under my skin. Not because they hit a nerve, but just because all of them were wildly unnecessary!
And if I got on my platform to talk to you about speaking to each other with respect instead of flinging random insults to people you don’t know on the internet… I also need to make sure I don’t stoop to their level, you know? Both online and in my real life conversations.
I think it’s just hard when everything has gone so far past politics. It’s harder for me when human rights are on the line. I can listen to different opinions about what’s best for our economy… but mask mandates and women’s rights and marriage equality aren’t really up for debate with me. Is anyone else having trouble navigating this? If so, I’m sending a big virtual hug your way. We’ll figure it out!
