Sunday Spotlights 19
Happy Sunday! It’s funny – writing these posts and my weekly email blast has really helped me reflect a lot. Last week, I was in a really rough spot, but this week I feel SO much better. I wasn’t quite sure why until I listened to this podcast and realized that emotions and stress have cycles. Did anyone else know this?! I talk about it more in today’s email blast – sign up here to get it in your inbox at 4pm!
On that note, I think I feel so much better this week because I’ve been able to close a few of my emotional and stress cycles with simple moments of joy and relaxation the past few days. One night when Adam could tell I was tense, he put You’ve Got Mail on, which is my all time favorite movie. On Friday, we had a cute little date night at home with spiked apple cider and pumpkin carving. Then on Saturday, we had my family over to celebrate my sister’s birthday and it was SO NICE to see all of them. We ordered bagels from Steingold’s (the only acceptable bagels in Chicago for a family from NY/NJ ?) and I made a quiche and brownies. My nephews chased Luna and we played a riveting game of hide & seek. My little niece gave us lots of big smiles. Such a great day!
And now today, even though I’ve been working all morning, I’m trying to be mindful of what work is fun and reflective and interesting… and what stresses me out. It’s a Sunday, so as soon as those feelings of stress creep in, it will be time for a break. I think that’s a good way to approach it, right?! Now, for the links…

My bike isn’t as discounted as it was on Prime Day, but it’s still only $399! I cover all of the frequently asked questions about the bike in this post if you’re considering the purchase.
The cute little workout set pictured above is soooo soft and comfy! It’s not super supportive, which doesn’t really bother me – but if you need more support, it might be best to only wear this for yoga, pilates, or barre!
My new favorite pan is $30 off this weekend with code SHOPSMALL! I’m pretty sure this ends tonight, so if you’ve been thinking about ordering an Our Place pan, do it now! I am going to do a whole review soon because I’ve been getting so many questions about it, but here’s the short story: it’s a beautifully constructed non-toxic nonstick pan by a female founded small business. 10/10 recommend if you could use a kitchen upgrade!
Adam and I made this spiked cider on Friday night and it really is the best fall drink EVER.
I truly cannot express how important this story is. Especially right now. It’s SO EASY to think of reproductive rights writes as a simple, black-and-white thing… but it’s not. Families like this one deserve to be a part of the conversation.
Whole Wheat Apple Walnut Carrot Bread?! Ummmmm YES PLEASE!
Be There In Five’s episode called Childless Millennial blew me away. It is honest and vulnerable and so relatable. Highly recommend.
On that note, my friend Jenn wrote a beautiful post about why they’ve decided not to have children.
Rom Com Pods is BACK!
I ordered this sweatshirt after getting upset after the town halls last week. Thanks for influencing me, Jess and Jess!
This floral blouse makes me happy every time I put it on.
I watched “What The Constitution Means To Me” on Amazon Prime yesterday and WOW. I totally understand why so many people raved about it when it was on Broadway. Even if you don’t agree with her on everything, her personal stories and deep understanding of the constitution are such an impactful combination.
I am so in love with my Nespresso machine. Everyone who says it’s awesome was RIGHT. Mmmmmm.
