Sunday Spotlights 22
Happy Happy Sunday, friends!!!! Doesn’t last Sunday feel like a million years ago?! This week was a lot, but I’m so so grateful to be able to breathe a sigh of relief before we start another one. No matter what your political affiliation, I hope that this starts a new beginning for all of us. One where we can come together as a nation, through empathy and compassion. We have been though a lot these past 4 years, and I think we could all use some hope and healing. And we have our first female VP! That is BIG!
I also want to say thank you for sticking with me throughout these past 8 months. I know I’ve been very vocal about COVID, Black Lives Matter, and more recently, the election. And I have always wanted my platforms to be safe space for everyone, but I never thought that in order to do that in 2020, I would need to really speak up. It is hard to figure out what to process internally on my own and what to share with all of you, but this year just became too much to hold in.
And while there were parts of this past week (especially yesterday) that were extremely disheartening, I also stand firm in my decision to choose empathy, compassion, inclusion, and decency over racism, sexism, homophobia, and bullying behavior. So thank you to each and every one of you who has been open to hearing those opinions, reading those articles, considering different points of view… it means more to me than I can say. I love that we can care about cute sweaters AND how to make the world a better place for everyone. Thank you thank you thank you for that.

You guys have been going nuts for my “I’m Speaking” sweatshirt! I can’t link it on my shop page or @liketoknow.it app, but it’s by Phenomenal, which is a company run by Kamala’s niece, Meena.
We have been living off of Magic Spoon cereal this week and I’m really not mad about it. High protein, low carb, no sugar? It’s a stress eating miracle!
THIS AD IS EVERYTHING. Well done, Athleta ???
I know I talk about Brene Brown’s podcast pretty much every week… but this episode was exactly what I needed on Wednesday. She talks about about how to have a strong back, soft front, and wild heart. That might not make sense now, but it will after you listen, I promise.
This video of Kamala congratulating Joe is the best.
Have you shopped the Sephora sale yet?! I definitely did a little damage…
Someone DMed me this video of little girls singing Hamilton with a note about how her friends all agreed they needed to send it to me ? You guys GET ME.
This article really explains why so many of us have felt so sad… and why we have more work to do.
I needed a new razor so I caved and got a Billie a few weeks ago, and I totally get the hype now. Affordable, really great quality, a great shave, and recurring shipments that I don’t have to think about? WHY did I resist this? (More of a review coming this week!)
In case you missed it on my stories, RealGood Farm Boxes are back! These boxes have all local, organic, and seasonal produce for 50% off grocery store prices. Use code LAKESHORELADY for $10 off any order of $50 or more! (Get the Lucky Juice-iano juice, too – it’s my favorite!)
This piece about toxic positivity was so thoughtful and well written. Highly recommend.

You are one of my favorite people I follow on instagram and blogs. You are down to earth and a perfect mix of sharing the fun stuff and the important stuff. So many influencers have tunnel vision with fashion, etc and it feels really tone deaf sometimes. Keep up exactly what you are doing. I’m sure I’m not the only person it resonates with.

Thanks so much Melissa – this means a lot ❤️
