Sunday Spotlights 45
Happy Sunday and Happy Mother’s Day! I know this past year has been especially hard on Mothers, so I hope all of you Mamas out there feel extra loved today! And if today is a hard day for you because you are struggling to become a Mom, you lost your Mom, or you’re dealing with any other difficult circumstances… I see you. Take care of yourself today. You are worthy and loved.
As for me, it’s been a big week over here! For starters, I went from dark brunette to blonde on Thursday! My hair got super dark after a year of not coloring it at all, so it was a SHOCK when I saw the transformation. I honestly still don’t recognize myself in the mirror ? But you know what? YOLO! This is fun and different and fresh for post-pandemic Lauren. And now that it’s light again, we can work on warming it up to the perfect bronde shade for our wedding in August.
And speaking of our wedding, we took engagement photos with our new photographer, Kerri Carlquist, this week and SHE IS SO GREAT! Not only is she just as delightful as I imagined her to be in real life, but she made us so excited about our wedding again – something we haven’t felt in over a year. It is actually happening and she is going to be there to capture the most beautiful photos of it. Eeeee, MY HEART!

The wedding collection at Alice & Wonder is selling out FAST (as expected!), but there are still some items left if you are a bride to be!
Definitely saved this graphic about how to pick a perfect watermelon.
Still can’t get over how good my friend Patrick Murney is in Mare of Easttown on HBO Max. Plus, my excitement for my old college buddy is distracting me from being scared by the plot, so that’s a plus too ?
I haven’t purchased anything on a whim in so long, but as soon as I walked into the store and put this dress on in the fitting room, I knew I wanted to wear it for our new engagement photos. It is WAY longer on me than it is on the model, but I still love it so much. Sustainable, versatile, and SO PRETTY!
I’ve been striking out on my shorts hunt recently, but these Madewell shorts look very promising!
This woman on TikTok has been calling out how the media used to consider celebrities “fat” who were absolutely not. It seems so ridiculous now, but we accepted those criticisms as valid back then – and she calls out how that rhetoric influenced body image issues for an entire generation of us, along with judgements of others bodies/health.
Banksy is coming to Chicago!
Tickets just went on sale for The Art of Banksy exhibit – and it looks awesome.
I literally haven’t thought about any kind of wedding signage at ALL, so I saved these tips as soon as I saw them. So smart!
I still haven’t ordered a fresh pair of Keds yet for summer… and I’m considering getting these Rothy’s sneakers instead. They cost a lot more, but they’re also a sustainable company and machine washable. Do any of you own them? What do you think??
A reader sent me this article called 6 Steps For Living In The Moment, and it is so so great. Highly recommend giving it a read!
I am majorly swooning over this new limited edition Le Creuset Dutch Oven with rainbow hearts ? Purchases also support The Trevor Project which is an incredible organization that provides crisis intervention and suicide prevention for LGBTQ+ youth.
My favorite low heeled sandals are back this year!!!
I cannot say enough good things about these shoes. They’re super comfortable and walkable, but they still look really nice and give you a little height boost. HIGHLY recommend!
10 reasons why young healthy people need to get vaccinated.
This speech about privilege, shared before the governor of Oklahoma banned schools from teaching critical race theory, is so powerful.
These Valentino knockoffs are so cute – and only $35!
The importance of funding the arts.
Curiosity got the best of me and I finally ordered Prose. I’ll report back with my thoughts once it arrives!
The U.S. birthrate dropped again. Maybe it has something to do with where the U.S. ranks on lists like these? ?
If you’ve been following me a while, you know that the filter primer is my favorite Tula product- and now they have a new tinted version! It’s still super lightweight, but it provides just a little bit of tinted coverage. I think it’s great for those “no makeup” days – but it’s also a nice base under foundation, too. I use the “sunrise” color! (Use code LAKESHORELADY for 15% off!)
