Sunday Spotlights 54
Happy Monday, friends! Even though this post went live yesterday, I thought I’d give it a little Monday update since this weekend was SO. MUCH. FUN. On Saturday, I thought 2 of my girlfriends were going to take me out for a boozy brunch, and then they showed up with 3 of our other best gals in WIGS. We had a glass of champagne and then went to a drag brunch at the Kit Kat Lounge… which was a blast. Highly recommend for any and all celebrations!
After that we went to Trader Todd’s to karaoke which was perfect because no one was there 😂 We ended the day with pizza and drinks on my deck. Truly one of the most fun days I’ve had in a long time. I still can’t get over how sweet they were to plan that for me. And they even let me go to bed before 11pm so I wouldn’t be struggling the next day. Do my friends know me or what?!
And then yesterday was my bridal shower!! My Aunt (and Godmother!) actually threw me an amazing shower for my East Coast families back in 2019, so when we cancelled our Chicago shower last year, I figured we wouldn’t reschedule. But once we all got vaccinated, my Mom had the idea of hosting one in my parent’s backyard… and honestly, it was SO LOVELY. I didn’t even realize how awesome it would be to have so many different women in my life in one place, and I’m so glad that different friends and family members could meet before the wedding.
As I mentioned in this caption, the past year and a half has been difficult – both because planning/postponing a wedding during a pandemic is tough but also because of reasons completely unrelated to that. So having a whole weekend that was solely devoted to the GOOD in my life was truly the best. We are so so so lucky.
*My bow dress is by DISSH and my shoes are by Sarah Flint. They’re definitely an investment pump, but they are so classic and my feet felt fine after wearing them ALL DAY. Use code SARAHFLINT-BALSL for a discount!
