Sustainable Boyfriend Jeans + A Low Back Bodysuit (that’s actually a swimsuit!)
My new sustainably distressed boyfriend jeans (that fit petite gals!), plus a low back bodysuit… that’s actually a swimsuit!
Bodysuit: Aerie (I got a medium, but I probably could have gotten a small. I just didn’t want it to be too tight because it’s actually not a bodysuit – it’s a swimsuit!) | Jeans: c/o Everlane (The best boyfriend jeans! Not only is the length great for petites, but the distressed holes aren’t too low either. I’m wearing a size 26 and they fit great, but be aware that they are made of stiff denim, so they don’t have much stretch!) | Sandals: Madewell (The most comfortable sandals EVER. I’m serious, I got them last year and they’re still my go-to shoe when it’s warm out. The BEST!) | Bag: Rebecca Minkoff (old, but the black version is still available!) | Sunglasses: Loft | Necklace: Vrai & Oro (I wear this pretty much every single day!)
Alright friends, I’m a little late today… but please meet my new favorite outfit! As most of you know, I’m usually all about the dresses and skirts… but for some reason I’m really into the basics this season. Although that could just be because I found the perfect bodysuit and the perfect pair of boyfriend jeans this year ?
Bodysuit or swimsuit?
Let’s start with the bodysuit! As soon as I saw Ashley from Everyday Pursuits talk about how she’s been wearing this swimsuit as a bodysuit, I was super intrigued. Even though she’s definitely tinier than me, I still love getting petite style inspiration from her – do you guys follow her? She always looks amaaazing and so much taller than she actually is. So if she says a $50 one piece swimsuit makes the best bodysuit, that’s the only push I need to place an order!
As predicted, she was right. It has a great low back, you don’t need to worry about a bra at all, and the ribbed texture hugs your curves perfectly! My only complaint is that there aren’t snaps like other bodysuits – obviously that’s out of the question for a bathing suit! But since I snagged this for only $25 (50% off sale – woo!!), I can overlook that.
These Sustainable Distressed Boyfriend Jeans though…
But also, let’s talk about these JEANS! Boyfriend jeans can be hard to find for petites – but they’re even harder to find if there’s distressing on it. I can’t tell you how many pairs I’ve tried that look ridiculous on me because the holes fall way below my knees.
Not only is the fit great, but these jeans are also sustainable and eco-friendly. I’m ashamed to admit I didn’t know any of this before a few weeks ago – but typical distressed denim is made with harsh chemical sprays and pumice stones, which are sand-blasted out of the earth even though they can only be used 3 times before they need to be replaced.
Everlane only uses bluesign®-certified chemicals, so they aren’t harmful for workers or the environment. They also use recycled synthetic stones (that are way more durable than pumice stones) to distress the denim. Oh, and they recycle 98% of their water! So many good things!
One warning though – these jeans are NOT stretchy. I’m wearing my usual size 26, but you might want to size up if you want a more relaxed fit. I kind of love that they’re rigid though!
