First Ribs, Next Tennessee

As you may have seen on snapchat (lakeshorelady) and Instagram last week, I indulged in a little Blues and BBQ last week 🙂

For those of you who have noticed that I don’t eat a lot of meat – don’t worry, I didn’t break any major Lauren rules here! While I can’t eat beef, I’ve kept pork around by eating a few strips of bacon on a hung over morning, or adding prosciutto to some of my favorite Italian recipes. Beyond that, (call me a weirdo!) but a lot of meat just doesn’t seem all that worth it to me.

That being said, when I hear that the BEST Memphis BBQ is coming to Chicago, my ears perk up! I won’t pass up a chance to try ribs from the #1 BBQ restaurant in Memphis… seriously, Corky’s was voted #1 for 22 of the past 30 years. I think that’s the definition of worth it, right?

Verdict: Toally worth it. Full of flavor and unbelievably tender. Yuh-um.

Along with ribs, there was also music by an awesome Memphis band called Southern Avenue. They were so talented and so soulful – I loved that Tennessee Vacation chose to feature them instead of a typical country artist. It totally proved that the music scene in Tennessee has SO much to offer… who wants to go visit and listen to ALL the music with me?!

Really though, my girlfriends and I have started brainstorming ideas for a trip to celebrate our 30th birthdays next year and Nashville was already on the list – but now I want to hit up Memphis, too! It’s an easy flight from Chicago and now I know I can expect ribs that fall off the bone and music that makes you want to dance. Yes, please!
