The Best Natural Products at Expo West!
To be completely honest, I had NO idea what I was getting myself into when I went to Expo West last week. I thought I was going to make smoothies and energy balls in Terra Origin‘s booth and maybe check out a few other booths when I wasn’t with them. As soon as I arrived, I realized I had greatly underestimated what this event is like.
What is Expo West?
In case you have no idea what I’m talking about, Natural Products Expo West is an annual event in Anaheim. There are HUNDREDS of exhibitors there, featuring their innovative natural products – from vegan cream cheese to CBD gummies to clean makeup. It is wild.
As soon I peeked into one of the 10+ ballrooms, I realized I wanted to taste test and learn about as many brands as I possibly could while I was there. I passed out so many business cards, took tons of free samples, and as corny as it sounds, got really excited for the future! These brands are all conscious about what goes into their products… and shouldn’t it always be that way?!
I had absolutely no intention of writing a blog post about my experience, but a few of you responded to my stories joking about how many screen shots you were taking… so I figured a roundup would be helpful and fun! Also, if you want to see more of these products, a lot of the videos I took are in my Expo West Insta-Story highlight on Instagram. Also, forgive me for not tracking down where all of this is available, but they should have store locators on their websites!
Below are the best natural products at Expo West!
Snacks and Sweets
Live Love Pop – Truffle Salt Popcorn
This Live Love Pop flavor isn’t new, but holy moly it is GOOOD.
Biena Chickpea Puffs
I’ve tried Biena‘s roasted chickpeas before, but these are next level. I think I like them even better than Hippeas… they’re just so light!
Siete Foods Sprouted Bean Dip
Along with their grain free tortilla chips and cashew queso, Siete has a new sprouted bean dip that is SO FREAKING GOOD. They also have new hard taco shells that I didn’t get to try, but you know I’ll test those out as soon as they hit stores!
Delighted By Dessert Hummus
Dessert hummus. Sounds weird, but it’s not at all, I promise! Eat with fresh fruit, graham crackers, add to oatmeal – so many possibilities! And their new red velvet and key lime pie flavors are unreal.
Rhythm Kale Chips
Best. Kale Chips. Ever.
Better Bites Birthday Bites
My friend Emily told me that I absolutely HAD TO go to Better Bites‘ booth, and I’m so glad she did! Their products are free of the top allergens (dairy, soy, eggs, gluten, peanuts, tree nuts, fish, shellfish), yet the DŌ bites taste like you’re eating the most indulgent raw cookie dough. I already bought the snickerdoodle ones from Whole Foods – can’t wait for the birthday cake flavor to hit stores!
Peatos
Peatos uses flour from peas and lentils instead of corn and potatoes to make a crunchy cheesy snack we all know a love way healthier.
Skinny Dipped Almonds – Dark Chocolate Mint
I was already a fan of Skinny Dipped before Expo West, but this new mint flavor is by far my favorite. Tastes like a thin mint!
Yes Peas from popchips
These new Yes Peas chips are made of green and yellow peas, oil, and salt – that’s it! And they’re so crunchy! I will definitely be buying these once I see them in stores!
Granola Butter
You’ve heard of peanut butter and almond butter, but now there’s GRANOLA BUTTER! INTO IT.
Lesser Evil Egg White Curls
Ever wished your snacks had more protein? Lesser Evil now has a crunchy snack with egg whites! Genius.
Hu Kitchen Chocolate
My friend Morgan told me Hu has the best chocolate… and she wasn’t kidding. I also love that they don’t use any dairy or refined sugar!
Breakfast/Lunch/Dinner
RX Bar Oatmeal
I don’t have a picture of the new RX Oats, but I had to include them on this list because they are soooo good. Top it with a little RX Bar nut butter?! STOP!
Kitchfix Waffles
Think healthy paleo Eggo waffles. I like to have these Kitchfix waffles in my freezer at all times for easy breakfasts – just top with almond butter and bananas!
MUSH Overnight Oats
I am not usually an overnight oats person, but I got to try the cold brew coconut flavor by MUSH and now I’m obsessed. They even include a spoon, so it’s the world’s perfect breakfast on the go!
Kodiak Cakes Power Cakes
I don’t know why I’ve never tried Kodiak Cakes because their power cakes mix has 14 grams of protein per serving, and all you have to do is add water. So easy!
New Food Collective Sausages
I don’t eat a ton of pork, but the ginger scallion sausage by New Food Collective is SO GOOD. Plus, the meat is sourced from a “community of farmers raising animals outside, on pasture, to improve the quality of the meat and the land.” Count me in.
Caulipower Pizza
I actually discovered Caulipower Pizza at Jewel, and it’s been our favorite cauliflower pizza since then. Definitely better than Trader Joe’s if that’s your usual go- to!
Sir Kensington’s Salad Dressing
Sir Kensington’s makes our favorite mustard, so I was really excited to see that they have salad dressings now! I tried the dijon balsamic and golden citrus – and both were delish!
Cali’flour Foods
I had heard so much about Cali’flour Foods pizzas, and the hype is definitely warranted. Their crust honestly tastes like thin cheesy bread – it’s so good!
Cappello’s Almond Flour Pizza
Are you surprised that I tried all the pizzas?! ? Cappello’s has always had a great gluten free option, but their new almond flour is way better. Get ready for it to hit stores, you’re going to LOVE it!
Do Anything Sauces
I was so impressed with this company! Their beet pesto and kale pesto are both awesome, and the ingredients are super clean.
Other Favorites
Ripple – Barista Style
I’ve tried regular Ripple milk before, but this Barista Style is meant to froth and foam… umm yes please! Frothy coffee AND 6 grams of protein?! Sign me up!
Rise Oat Milk & Oat Milk Latte
I’m a sucker for an oat milk latte and this one does not disappoint. I also just discovered it’s on Thrive Market! If you don’t like your coffee sweetened, they are also coming out with oat milk that doesn’t have any sugar added – I taste tested that, too… it’s awesome.
Spindrift – Lime
It’s no secret that I love Spindrift and their new lime flavor is up there with Grapefruit for me!
Health-Ade Cherry Berry
One of my favorite kombucha brands, Health-Ade, debuted new flavors and Cherry Berry was for sure my favorite. I can’t wait for it to hit stores!
Suja Organic Energy
Suja took their juices one step further with their new Organic Energy drinks. CoffeeBerry extract provides 100 mg of natural caffeine, which is similar to one cup of coffee!
OKI
Ever heard of CBD water? Well, now you have! I tried OKI‘s cucumber water with CBD and it tasted like a day at the spa… I won’t say no to that!
Natural Bliss Oat Milk Creamer
Here’s the thing – I tried so many great oat milk options, but very few of them sell their product in Chicago… which is a major bummer. But this oat milk creamer is at Target stores nationwide! WOOOO!
Charlotte’s Web
Charlotte’s Web makes my favorite CBD oil, so I was SO excited to find out that they are making new oil flavors AND 3 different gummies! Can’t wait to try this sleep one!
DERMA-E Sun Protection Mineral Powder
My favorite charcoal face mask is by DERMA-E, so when I saw their booth, I had to say hi! Their Sun Protection Mineral Powder caught my eye immediately, because I had something similar last summer that I didn’t love. Definitely need to give theirs a try!
Winged CBD
I stopped at this booth because the branding was so pretty, but I stayed because I started chatting with the founder about how CBD has helped both of us and why she wanted to create her own company catered specifically to women. Winged CBD isn’t officially launched yet, but I have a feeling we’re going to be seeing a lot of this brand.
