The Cutest Plaid Skort – and how to style it 2 ways!
Happy Thanksgiving week!! Before we get too far into this crazy week, I wanted to share this adorable plaid skirt I’ve been obsessed with because these photos give me all the fall feels – and this outfit is on sale this week!!
The Cutest Plaid Skort – and how to style it 2 ways!
I’m sure you all remember skorts from our childhood days, but let me tell ya – they’re pretty stellar as an adult, too. I’m sure I’m not the only petite gal who has trouble finding a skirt at the perfect length. Long enough to cover the booty, short enough to elongate the legs and wear with OTK boots. It can be tough! But the beauty of the skort is that there are shorts built in underneath, so I can rock this mini length without feeling inappropriate or on display at all. Plus, even though I didn’t put them on for this shoot, it is SO CUTE with tights! I might even rock that look on Thursday…
And the best part is if you are a myAbercrombie member, you can shop their Cyber Week sale early! That means 30% off EVERYTHING. If you aren’t a member, all you have to do is sign up for a free account to get the perks.
Plaid Skirt + Oversized Sweater + Loafers
I originally bought this to be worn as a set with this matching shirt jacket (seen below and when we were in New York!) but I know that isn’t everyone’s jam, so I wanted to show you how it can easily be styled in a more classic way for a work meeting, a gathering with friends, or even a cozy date night!
I know you’ve seen me wear this alpaca sweater in a few different colors over the years, but I realized I could really use it in black – and now I want to wear it with everything. (Doesn’t it also look cute with my new sequin skirt?!) It runs oversized, so no need to size up for a slouchy fit. It is the coziest thing ever – aka perfect for winter in Chicago. And obviously as the temperatures start to dip, I’d add black tights to this outfit for extra warmth, too.
Lastly, I know these shoes are a splurge, but OMG I am in love. I’m always a sucker for shoes that look really nice but still feel comfortable – and that’s what these are. They’re absolutely beautiful in person and I could be on my feet all day in them, no problem. The website says you should size down but I disagree. I got my normal size and they’re perfect. Sarah Flint is also running a promotion for $50 off 1 pair, $100 off 2 pairs, $150 off 3 pairs, or $200 off 4 pairs this weekend!
Wear it as a matching set
Alright, now that we went over that, who wants to embrace the matching set?! Instead of styling this with the sneakers I wore in New York, I opted for over the knee boots to get a warmer and sleeker look. I definitely get some Gossip Girl meets Clueless vibes from this outfit – and I’m so here for it!
The shirt jacket runs really big, so just keep that in mind when you purchase. I got it in an XS and it’s still really roomy. That being said, the skort runs true to size. I got a small and it fits perfectly!
Also, I only linked similar over the knee boots above since mine are old and I don’t love them anymore since they always fall down. I am majorly on the hunt for a good new pair and I’m considering investing in a Stuart Weiztman pair on major sale but they’re still so pricey!! Ahhh I can’t decide if I should or not! A trip to DSW to try a bunch on might be in order… stay tuned!
