What’s on my desk?
I will admit, I’m not the most organized person in the world. I hold onto clothes past their expiration date, I let papers pile up on my desk, and I have trouble throwing away everything from documents to scripts to birthday cards. I’ve tried to get better about this as I’ve gotten older, but I’m still no expert. So this spring, when I felt the urge to get organized, I decided to take it one step at a time… starting with the part of my apartment that I use the most – my desk!
When I first moved into my one bedroom apartment and started working from home, I got a really cheap white desk that “did the trick.” It only had one small drawer that barely even opened and the whole thing quickly got stained, nicked and warped… let’s just say I tried to give it to Salvation Army and they didn’t want it! Enter: The Room Place.
As soon as I saw this desk, I knew it was the “grown up” desk that I needed, at a seriously good value. I promptly went through all of the piles of papers, sticky notes, and random things that have accumulated and started fresh. Spring cleaning at it’s finest, right?!
So… what’s on my desk now that the piles of papers are gone?!
No, I won’t say I have flowers on display all the time, because that would be a lie… but I do love picking up fresh blooms in the spring! It feels like such a treat to myself, plus who doesn’t want to sit down at a desk with flowers in the morning? When I realized these bright tulips matched my Today Show mug, getting out of bed got a whole lot easier that week!
Recently, I’ve started using resources from my friend Jess and Blair‘s new website Blogging for Keeps. If you’re a blogger and you haven’t checked it out, go do it right NOW! I’m loving their content brainstorming sheet at the moment – it’s a great way to get the creative juices flowing!
I’ve also started keeping my new mala beads on my desk. I don’t necessarily want to wear them all the time, but I really like to have them near me at least. Mine are purple agate and represent acceptance of oneself, self confidence, and self analysis. They also improve concentration, perception and analytical abilities, leading to practical solutions. Growth in all levels. Yes, please!
Also, do you like my new business cards from MOO?! One for food, one for fashion and one for healthy living! Woo!
Oh yeah, there are also THREE drawers in this desk. AND they pull out all the way. Whaaaat?! You guys… this is a big improvement.
And I obviously couldn’t throw away the Beyonce card that my friend Kate gave me. Obviously.
All I need now is a cuter desk chair and a new white media stand… my current one is black and, no, it definitely doesn’t match. Woooops! We’re all a work in progress though, right?!
What do you guys keep on your desk?
I also got this beautiful big mirror and I’m obsesssssed! You guys clearly dig it too, because this mirror selfie I took in my new Yumi Kim maxi has gotten over 1,500 likes on Instagram! Whaaat?!??! You all made. my. day 🙂
I received product from The Room Place in exchange for this post, but (as always) all opinions are my own. Thanks for supporting the companies that make Lake Shore Lady possible!

SUCH a pretty desk, Lauren! I know you've been wanting to upgrade for a long time now, and this has to help you stay organized and motivated! Hoping to get a desk in the next year to maximize productivity… but for now it's the kitchen table, haha. LOVE Room Place!
