A few weeks ago, a follower asked if I had any suggestions for a good work/travel bag. And I realized that this is a topic I NEVER talk about! First of all, I work from home 90% of the time now. But it’s also because I prefer to be a minimalist when it comes to bags, and I got a great Rebecca Minkoff tote at a sample sale a few years ago that’s still in great condition. Why buy anything else when I have that?!
But obviously saying “I don’t know, I don’t personally need a new one” is a terrible blogger answer! So I did a little shopping and I asked the ladies in my Facebook group for suggestions – and I think we have a pretty awesome list! Most bags are right in that affordable investment zone – somewhere between $100 and $200. That way you know it’s good quality and you won’t need to buy something else in a month… but it also won’t send you into major debt 😉 I threw a few reader favorites that were more expensive and less expensive in here too, though. I know we all have different shopping priorities!
The Best Tote Bags For Work
Classic Tote by Dagne Dover ($245)
“Several size/color options, slot for laptop, neoprene holder for a water bottle and other great features! I’ve used it every day for over a year and still love it.” -Alex
Another gal said that it’s pretty heavy, but the company has “an INCREDIBLE customer service team” – so that’s good! You can also get it through Nordstrom if you prefer to get points!
Cuyana Classic Leather Zipper Tote ($195)
“Cuyana zip tote! Been using it every day for work, plus travel, for over 4 years! It’s sturdy and classic.” – Rachel
Cuyana also has classic leather and structured leather tote bags for work that are just as beautiful if you don’t want/need a zipper. Their whole motto is “fewer better things” and everything that I have from them is excellent quality. A great investment piece that you’ll have for years!
Lole Lily Bag ($140)
“I have had it for four years and it’s just now starting to rip. It has a laptop holder, too!” – Lou Lou
This bag is a little less sleek than some of the others, but it’s crazy versatile! It can convert into a backpack, it has a 13 inch laptop pocket, a yoga mat compartment, a water bottle compartment, a shoe bag, smartphone pocket, and more. Talk about bang for your buck!
Lululemon On My Level 15L Tote ($128)
“The Lululemon On My Level 15L tote is the best work bag/everything bag I have ever owned! It’s so lightweight with long handles and can carry my entire life. It also has a laptop pocket, multiple zip pockets, outside pockets AND the top zips. It’s big but amazing.” -Paige
Amazon Vegan Leather Tote ($44.95)
“I love this super basic, classic leather, Amazon find.” -Reggie
Lo & Sons O.M.G. Bag ($275)
“Lo&Sons OG or OMG bag. Great for work/work travel. Extra compartment for shoes plus slides right onto your suitcase. Love it!” – Caitlin
Kate Spade Margaux Bag ($298)
“I get them from Kate Spade when they have surprise sales! Something like this, but the styles vary a little season to season, I’m on my third one and they hold up pretty well!” -Maggie
They also sell a bigger version at Nordstrom that looks great for work!
Everlane Day Market Tote ($175)
I technically have the mini version, so I can’t speak directly to this big one – but I do know that the quality is beautiful. I’ve also heard great things about their Form bag if you prefer a crossbody option that can still fit most laptops!
