Ditching your skinny jeans but not sure how to style your new denim? Click through to find out what shoes to wear with straight leg jeans this fall!
When it comes to blog posts, I always like to pay attention to what YOU are asking for – and one question that I’ve been getting over and over is “what shoes do I wear with straight leg jeans?!” On one hand, I totally get the worry, especially if your fall/winter wardrobe has mostly consisted for tucking skinny jeans into riding boots. But on the other hand, I just want to look all of you in the eye and tell you take a deep breath. There’s no need to psych ourselves out over a slight change in trends. You can still wear a great pair of straight leg jeans with lots of shoes, most of which you probably already own! So let’s dive into my top recommendations.
My favorite straight leg jeans
Before we dive in to the shoes, let’s chat denim. I actually wrote a blog post all about my top straight leg jeans recommendations so I’d check that out if you’re in the market for a new pair. I’ve been reaching for this pair the most recently and it’s really not that much different from a skinny jean – it just has a slightly bigger opening at the bottom by the ankle. That’s it!
What Shoes To Wear With Straight Leg Jeans
I think my favorite thing that’s on trend right now are jeans and sneakers. I mean, who doesn’t love being comfortable?! This sustainable and washable pair has been my go-to recently, but I linked some other fun options below. When it comes to sneakers, just make sure your jeans aren’t too long. No dragging on the floor allowed! Shop the full outfit here.
The next easiest shoe to pair with straight leg jeans are loafers. Chunky loafers are really big right now, but I also love more feminine loafers like this pair, too. What was once very much a work shoe is now a great choice for basically any occasion. Shop the full outfit here.
Similarly to loafers, ballet flats are a great choice too! They’re actually VERY trendy this year which makes me laugh because I’ve always just thought of them as a super practical shoe. I haven’t purchased any new pairs yet this year but I love this pair and this pair. So pretty!
Okay but what about when it gets cold and snowy outside? Flats aren’t going to cut it! I hear you, which is why I recommend having a really great ankle boot or two in your closet. The good thing is that this isn’t anything new. I’m sure you already have some in your closet! If not, I recommend looking for boots with a narrow opening around the ankle, so your straight leg jeans can easily fit over the top. I’ve had this pair of glove boots for years now (seen here!) and they are AMAZING, but I also love the tan pair pictured above. So comfortable, cute and versatile! Shop the full outfit here.
When it comes to date night, you can never go wrong with pumps. They’re classic for a reason! I was gifted this pair from Sarah Flint which are amaaaazing but don’t worry if they’re out of your budget. There are a lot of other options out there at different price points too!
