Good for you! Love that you're giving yourself permission to make your own rules, and I agree that something is better than nothing! Have fun with your recipes- can't wait to see what you come up with!

Way to go! I did Whole30 last year, and this year we decided to just do 30 days with no sugar or dairy. Giving up beans was so hard for me!! Also, as a fellow grain lover, I recommend baked sweet potatoes with almond butter on them. *Almost* like toast 😉

Hi! I'm on day 8 of the Whole30. I'm feeling pretty good but boy do I miss sides such as brown rice and snacks such as tortilla chips w salsa. I know you're not following whole30 to a T but wanted to give you the heads up that soy is a no-no. Liquid aminos is soy based. You may want to switch to coconut aminos. For snacks I have rx bars pre workout or Whole Foods babaganoush w cucumber slices and baby carrots. Good luck!

Oops, I forgot another snack option. TJ's plantain chips w Whole Foods guacamole. Yum! Whole Foods also sells primal kitchen brand which I bought their regular mayo and chipotle mayo. I use it to make coleslaw as a side or an egg salad and as a dip for my baked sweet potato fries delish!

Sabrina! Thanks for letting me know! Someone told me liquid aminos was a good soy sauce alternative and then I JUST read last night that you have to look for coconut aminos! I still haven't opened the bottle, so I'm going to go back to the store to exchange it. Also, babaganoush is genius for my hummus cravings!!!

Right?! Giving up beans and grains is tough – but I'm curious to see if I notice any difference from cutting them out. Also, good idea to put almond butter on sweet potatoes!

Yay! Glad you haven't used it. Coconut aminos were hard to find but I ended up going to Fresh Thyme market and boom there they were. Awesome part is they carry a flavored version, spicy garlic. I used it in my ground chicken lettuce wraps. I'm glad I was helpful! Good luck and have fun!

I'm on Day 10 today and I'm a huge snacker too! Here are the things that have been keeping me afloat! RXBars (all but peanut butter are compliant, they sell at TJ's), Mixed Roasted Nuts, Chomps meat sticks (TJ's), dried apples, pineapple and mango (TJ's, make sure to get the ones with just fruit) and apples with cashew butter!

Sorry to be THAT person, but chips of any kind (even made with only compliant ingredients) technically aren't allowed. The idea is to take away the habit of mindless eating. They call those kinds of things "Sex With Your Pants On" (SWYPO) foods. My biggest suggestion is make sure you're eating enough at meals, and have some hearty emergency food on hand. I keep a couple of small sweet potatoes at my desk and some lunch meat in the fridge in case I get really hungry. Just pop the potato in the microwave to cook! You can also add some avocado slices to that!

Hey Sarah – I've read similar things and I agree. I don't trust myself with a bag of plantain chips and guac haha That being said, I was thinking plantain chips might be a great way to add some crunch to dishes or a good thing to throw in my purse in case I get really famished… which I've read is okay, as long as you aren't sitting there mindlessly snacking through the whole bag. I personally don't like microwaving, but I've already decided I want to have some roasted sweet potatoes on hand for when hunger strikes and I NEED something haha Thanks so much for your input! So helpful!

I have Lara Bars think I need to get some RX Bars too – variety is so important, otherwise I'll get bored! Haha
