My Favorite New $25 Winter Headband + The Best Accessories for the Cold
Back when I asked for content suggestions, I couldn’t help but laugh at how many of you simply asked for help “surviving winter in Chicago“. ? I get it though – our winters are no joke! Even when it’s not snowing, the temps get super low… and the best way to get through it is to be prepared for it.
I may have just gotten a new puffer coat (that I highly recommend!), but I’m still on a hunt for great winter boots to suggest to you all. So, in the meantime, I thought I’d dive into winter accessories. Hats, scarves, gloves – the things we’ll all need these next few months, but can still start wearing now. I don’t know about you, but it’s easier/less depressing for me to think about hats than it is to think about snow boots. Especially in the beginning of November.
Winter Headband
If you follow my insta-stories, you might recognize this winter headband because I’m obsessed. I originally wanted something that I could wear even when my hair was up in a bun – especially for when I walk to and from the gym. I ordered this chenille headband first and it was absolutely HUGE on me, so I was thrilled that this wool version fit me perfectly. It’s also only $25 – such a steal! I’ve pulled together a few other favorites, too…
Hats Under $50
If you’re not into my winter headband, you can always go with a hat! I just got this cashmere beanie, and I can’t recommend it enough. At $39 it’s a little more expensive than the headband, but it is sooooo soft. Plus, I love that it’s light enough to wear in mild weather. I wore it all afternoon in D.C. when we walked the monuments, and that + my Barbour jacket was perfect for the slightly chilly weather.
That being said, once it gets freezing, I always reach for my pom hat. If you’ve been following me for a while, you know that these are my favorites (seen here and here). Unfortunately they were both gifts, so I can’t link to the exact same ones – but there are plenty of similar options! This one looks a lot like mine, but I also love this patterned version.
Cozy Scarves
There are few things more necessary to Chicago winters than a nice big cozy scarf. We’re talking the kind of scarves that you can bury your face into, preferably as big as a blanket, maybe a chunky knit or crazy soft chenille, and bonus points if it’s also plaid ?
Nice/Transitional Scarves
While I love chunky scarves, let’s be real – they don’t go with every outfit, nor are they always necessary! You might not want to show up to a winter wedding or holiday party in a huge blanket scarf unless you’re dealing with some record breaking temps. Just SAYIN. Luckily, there are a bunch of classic and sleek scarves available this year. A follower recommended this tissue weight wool and cashmere scarf, and I can totally see why! I also think this leopard scarf would be so pretty with an LBD!
Gloves
As much as I wish we didn’t need gloves, we just really really do. Luckily, there’s something for pretty much everyone. You could get sleek leather (or faux leather) gloves or just go for festive mittens. I personally think the most practical are tech gloves or convertible fingerless gloves/mittens.
One more thing…
I also just want to mention that everyone NEEDS these cozy chenille socks (seen here!). I know they might not be as high on your list as some of these other things, but they are the SOFTEST socks in the world. Adam even asked if they come in men’s sizes ? Seriously, the best!
