5 Things: Allbirds Sneakers, my Summer playlist, why I’m a menstrual cup convert, and more!
Happy Tuesday, friends! I let myself off the hook and didn’t get this up yesterday because we had a weekend. It started with a day in the burbs on Wednesday, followed by our friends’ rehearsal dinner and fireworks on the 4th, their wedding on Friday, and then a BBQ on Saturday! It was one of the most fun weekends we’ve had in a while. This couple is seriously the best, so it was so so so fun to celebrate with them. But it took pretty much all my energy just to work out, grocery shop, send out my weekly email blast and get my to-do lists in order yesterday. That’s all I had in me!
To ease back into the week, I thought I’d write a quick little 5 Things post since I haven’t done one in a while!! I kind of forget to write them since those weekly email blasts cover what I’m eating, reading, watching, listening to, etc. every week. But they’re still fun to post here, so these are a few things that don’t quite warrant their own blog post… but you should definitely know about them! Here we go:
5 Things
Allbirds Tree Skippers
I’m really not sure what took me so long, but holy moly Allbirds are AWESOME. My parents got me the tree skippers (kauri coffee with white sole) for my birthday in May and they’ve quickly become my go-to shoe for walking Luna. They are so crazy comfortable and have been from the moment I got them! No breaking in needed, machine washable, AND they’re eco-friendly. Yes yes yes! I encourage you to read more about their story, the materials they use, and their commitment to the environment. They’re seriously such a cool company.
Flex Menstrual Cup
Okay, remember when I told you about Flex discs back in March? Well, that same company launched a menstrual cup and now I’m a total convert! I really didn’t like the Diva Cup when I tried it a while back because I found it really hard to get it in and out, but the Flex Cup has a “ReleaseRing” that breaks the seal so you can remove it really easily.
Now that I found one I’m comfortable with, I don’t ever want to go back. My monthly headaches are pretty much completely gone. I don’t even notice when I have it in; I’m saving SO much money on tampons (or even the discs) each month. Also, it feels like something small that I can personally do for the environment. Big fan. If you’ve been thinking about switching over, I recommend giving this one a try!
‘It’s Warming Up’ Playlist
Once the weather started to get nicer, I realized I needed a playlist for those sunshine-days, and this one has become my go to! I’m pretty proud of it considering it started with ONLY Lizzo and Maggie Rogers ?
Thundershirt
Luna heard fireworks for the first time last week and she did NOT like them… so I was worried about leaving her alone on the actual 4th of July, especially because we’re still working through some separation anxiety with her. I figured we had nothing to lose, so I ordered a thundershirt for her, and I’m honestly pretty convinced it works! We came home on the 4th of July to a calm sleeping puppy – it was so great!
Summer Fridays Overtime Mask
Like most people, I’ve been hearing about Summer Fridays for a while, so when Sephora had a sale earlier this year, I snagged the Jet Lag Mask and the Overtime Mask so I could see what the hype was all about. The Jet Lag Mask is great and hydrating. Not the most life changing thing, but I really like it and I really like that this brand is clean.
But the Overtime Mask is another story. Seriously, I think this one should be more hyped than the Jet Lag mask… it’s AMAZING. First of all, it smells like Fall and pumpkins, which I’m never mad about. Second, sometimes exfoliating masks are too harsh for my skin, but this one is mild and gentle. I’ve been dealing with some breakouts recently and this mask has been such a big help!
If you’ve been breaking out too, Tea Tree Oil has also helped me a lot! I have one by Advanced Clinicals that’s helped tone down redness and heal scars really well. I wish I had known it was so effective years ago!

I know you’ve linked it before, but where is your sweatshirt from? It looks so perfectly comfy but still chic! Also, thank you for the honest feedback on the menstrual cup; I’m intimidated by them, but also really curious to try one. It’s nice to hear about more than just the Diva Cup.

Hey Erin! It’s kind of hidden in the widgets above – but here is the direct link > http://bit.ly/2YUBiUQ I love that it’s lightweight for the cool days we’ve had, or even chilly summer nights. Highly recommend it!!!
And definitely check out the Flex Cup! I was so intimidated by the Diva Cup and could not figure out how to easily get it in/take it out – but the little release ring on this one makes it SO much easier. Plus it’s nice to not worry about it for most of the day instead of changing tampons all the time, you know?
